The 10-Minute Reset

The 10-Minute Reset

A simple routine to clear your mind and regain focus when life feels overwhelming

Some days, everything feels like too much.

Your inbox is full.

Your to-do list keeps growing.

You know you need to do something…

…but you don't know where to start.

When everything feels urgent, it's easy to freeze.

The answer isn't to work harder.

It's to pause.

Just for ten minutes.

Why a reset works

When we're overwhelmed, our brains struggle to prioritize.

Every task feels equally important.

Every notification demands attention.

Instead of making progress, we jump from one thing to another, becoming busier but accomplishing less.

A short reset creates space.

It helps you slow down long enough to choose what matters next.

The 10-Minute Reset

You don't need special tools. Just ten uninterrupted minutes.

Minute 1–2  Pause

Close your laptop.

Silence your phone.

Take a few slow breaths.

Allow your mind to catch up with your body.

Minute 3–4  Empty your mind

Write down everything that's competing for your attention.

Work tasks.

Personal reminders.

Ideas.

Worries.

Don't organize them.

Simply get them out of your head.

Minute 5–6  Choose one priority

Look at your list and ask:

What is the one thing that would make today feel meaningful?

Not the easiest.

Not the biggest.

Just the next right step.

Circle it.

Minute 7–8  Remove one obstacle

Ask yourself:

What's most likely to stop me from starting?

Can you close unnecessary tabs?

Prepare what you need?

Move your phone to another room?

Small changes make starting easier.

Minute 9–10  Begin

Don't wait until the ten minutes are over to feel ready.

Use the final moments to start.

Open the document.

Write the first sentence.

Send the email.

Take the first step.

Momentum begins with movement.

Why it matters

The goal isn't to solve everything in ten minutes.

The goal is to stop feeling stuck.

Most overwhelming days don't require a complete life overhaul.

They simply require one clear decision followed by one intentional action.

Try it today

The next time your mind feels noisy, don't reach for more motivation. Reach for ten minutes.

Pause.

Reset.

Choose.

Begin.

You may be surprised how much can change in such a small amount of time.

One intentional step

At The Nova Vista, we believe progress isn't built by filling every minute.

It's built by creating moments of clarity.

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do… is stop.

For ten minutes.

Then take the next intentional step.
